Knowing that Auntie June was a very stylish woman, when she asked if I wanted to look through her clothes before she gave her wardrobe overhaul and, I didn’t need to think twice. I went home with a bag load of clothes from the 70’s – dresses, 2 piece outfits, jumpsuits, you name it.
This grecian style dress is my favourite out the lot.
It was designed by a friend of my aunt who was a dressmaker during the 70’s. My Aunt modelled it for her at a fashion show and got to keep the it. She showed me a picture of herself modelling it for an ‘impromptu’ photo shoot in true 70’s style.
I snatched up this dress at the Reiss sample sale last year. The neon floral print was designed for Reiss’ Spring/Summer ’13 collection. This sample dress didn’t go through to production stage, but Reiss did produce the ‘Gina’ scarf with the same print. All Reiss prints are designed in-house so it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to find anything with the same print. If only Reiss had produced a few more pieces in this print.
